Step 1: Complete the Application:
Fill out the online application thoroughly with completed essays, information, recommender information, and preferred group interview times.
Step 2: Online Recommendation Form
Your online application will require you to submit information for a UF Faculty/Staff recommendation and a character reference. Once you submit your applications, your recommender will receive an automatic email. Please contact your recommender and have them fill out the online recommendation form through the link provided in the email. Be sure to follow-up with your recommender to ensure that your application is completed by the due date.
Step 3: Group Interview
All eligible applicants will be required to go through a group interview process where First Year Florida peer leaders, instructors, and representatives of New Student & Family Programs will evaluate applicants based on skills needed to be a successful peer leader.
Step 4: Individual Interview
Selected applicants will be invited to a one-on-one interview with a representative of New Student & Family Program, where applicants will be evaluated on their potential to be a successful peer leader.
Step 5: Training
All peer leaders must attend Peer Leader Retreat on January 11-12 and attend Transitions Mini-Conference on April 25. Additionally, Peer Leaders must enroll in IDS4930: The 3 S’s of Success during Spring 2019 and IDS4905: Facilitating First Year Florida during their first teaching semester. These requirements are mandatory as they help FYF Peer Leaders prepare for their role.
